The camphor tree is a large evergreen native to Taiwan that can grow to an impressive 100 feet tall. Its massive branches produce a capacious canopy consisting of thousands of small, waxy leaves that emit the strong scent of white camphor essential oil. However, the oil is not extracted from its leaves, but instead is steamed from the wood and branches of a mature, oil-ready tree, no younger than 50 years old.

History of White Camphor

Hundreds of years ago, raw camphor was used for culinary purposes, often as an ingredient for sweets in Asia and Europe. Today, processed camphor, which is not suitable for consumption, is burned during Hindu ceremonies for performing aarti. When aarti is practiced, the performer traditionally faces the deity of God, reminding him to keep God at his center. The grounding aroma of white camphor oil helps maintain calmness and a sense of presence.

Bath & Shower

Add 5-10 drops to hot bath water, or sprinkle into shower steam before getting in for an at-home spa experience.

Massage

8-10 drops of essential oil per 1 ounce of carrier oil. Apply a small amount directly to areas of concern, such as muscles, skin, or joints. Work the oil gently into the skin until it is fully absorbed.

Inhalation

Inhale the aromatic vapors directly from the bottle, or place a few drops in a burner or diffuser to fill a room with its scent.
